The Wireless Sensor Tags products and associated iOS/Android/Web apps are designed and developed by Cao Gadgets LLC in Irvine and Aliso Viejo, California.
Our founder has a passion for everything electrical. He started computer programming at age 10 when Microsoft Windows 3.1 first came out. At college and during his Ph.D., he studied high speed integrated circuit (IC) designs and presented his research at International Solid State Circuit Conference (ISSCC), the most prestigious conference in semiconductor industry. He has been a professional radio frequency IC designer for many years after earning his Ph.D.
He always wanted to build something of lasting value that utilizes the whole span of his expertise, from the very low level of individual transistors to the highest level of distributed software architecture.
We had the idea of Wireless Tag for a long time, that it would be nice to have some kind of wall mounted "central control panel" from where one can find the location of every single item in one's house, so that one never have to waste time looking for missing items again. In your PC you have search function to find the files you are looking for in seconds, why can't you have the same thing for items in your house?
We tried products like Click n' Dig but were disappointed by their short range and sporadic behavior that requires multiple button presses to work. (Then we lost the transmitter.) When we opened up Click n' Dig, inside there was a very rudimental radio circuit built with a few discrete components and a ring oscillator, without even a crystal to provide stable transmission frequency. To our founder, there was no mystery why such a primitive radio circuit often fails under varying environmental conditions and radio interference. In contrast, we provide a "modern" radio IC with fractinoal-N frequency synthesizer, low phase noise LC-VCO, direct-conversion architecture, digital frequency acquisition loop, and a stable external crystal, in every one of our Wireless Sensor Tags. After evaluating different wireless technology from 13MHz band used by RFID tags to 2.4GHz band used by Zigbee and Bluetooth, we decided on 433MHz band since it had the longest range at given power consumption.
In our first generation, we developed a Windows program and connected it to the real world using a small USB stick that implements our wireless technology. However, using it ourselves, we realized that in practice, we cannot have the USB Tag Manager available 24/7 monitoring each Tags, and be ready whenever the need of finding a Tag arises. This was because the PC typically enters sleep eventually, and having a USB slot always occupied is not convenient for laptop computers. We decided that this first generation product could not have provided lasting value to our customers. Although we could have continued selling it and making profits, we discontinued making it and focused on developing the a second generation, something that will be truly useful and provide lasting value to the user. After more than a year of hard work in every evening and weekends, our second generation is finally ready.
We buy the majority of our electronics components from companies like DigiKey and Mouser in United States, ship them to factories outside of U.S. for circuit board assembly, and we do our final firmware programming and assembly locally in California. Plastic enclosures are manufactured in China using USA sourced materials. What you can see to the right is just a part of the electronics components we bought during development of early prototypes of this product.
If you are not happy with our products you can return them within 60 days for a refund or exchange through Shopify or Amazon. Our products are covered by 1 year limited warranty, during that time we offer exchange if our product malfunctions as the result of any manufacturing defects. you may call us @949-439-7158 or email us for technical support.
